MYCELIUM

“Mycelium” is an interactive light installation, linking art, light and nature. Inspired by artists like Bruce Munro and Janet Echelman, the installation uses fiber optics to evoke the mycelial network, an underground system essential for plant communication. This luminous network winds through the garden’s flowerbeds and trees, creating a visual experience reminiscent of the delicate patterns of Art Nouveau. Interactive sensors allow visitors to influence the light and soundscape, adjusting their intensity and color, emphasizing the importance of harmony between humanity and its environment. This interactivity symbolizes each individual’s ability to impact and be impacted by their surroundings. Technically, the installation is designed to be energy-efficient, utilizing low-power LED light sources and lasers. The light elements are discreetly installed in the ground or on the trees using nylon threads, and a multi-point sound system creates a subtle but immersive auditory environment, encouraging attentive listening and quiet exploration.
